(Cross sections)
Graphic artist, illustrator, and musician
Miha Erič
presents his artwork at the Prečna Gallery in Kamnik.
The exhibition features his woodcuts, linocuts, and high-relief copper engravings created over the past seven years.
His work includes figurative, realistic, and surreal socially critical motifs, often with a touch of the grotesque. Miha uses engraving chisels to carve into the printing matrix, shaping light in the negative.
He pays special attention to “cross sections,” which create a sense of space, light, and tactility — even though it's all just an illusion.
The fantasy in his line work offers an escape from harsh reality, while also delivering clear and sometimes very direct messages.
Some prints are hand-colored with watercolors, reminiscent of early book illustrations from 500 years ago, and framed in antique frames, often salvaged from attics or junkyards.
Occasionally, Miha even custom-sizes a graphic to fit a unique frame — doing the opposite of the usual approach, where the artwork comes first and the frame second.
The second part of the exhibition features unframed black-and-white prints, just as they emerge from the printing press.
Also on display are the wooden and copper matrices—rarely shown in exhibitions, yet essential, as they give birth to the graphic prints.
The exhibition is also a sales show and will be open until August 31, 2025.
